Onset within 10- 15 minutes.
No islet cell antibodies.
Intermediate acting.
Onset usually young.
Impaired glucose tolerance or impaired fasting glucose screening after ager 40 with family history of diabetes.
Type I
No peak.
Humalog (lispro).
Very long acting (glargine/detemir/Lantus)
Duration 4-6 hours.
Decrease in endogenous insulin or increased insulin resistance.
Type II
Short acting (regular/Humulin R/Novolin R)
Rapid acting.
Used for basal dose.
Rapid acting (lispro)
Antibodies to insulin.
Type I
NPH (Humulin N, Novolin N)
