BOB WENT SKYDIVINGOnline version MATCH THE STORY TO THE GRAPH! by Jennifer Deckard 1 As I start to accelerate, the force of air resistance starts to increase. My speed is increasing, but my acceleration (changing speed) is slowing. 2 E. I am going sky diving! I jump from the aircraft. My parachute is closed and there is no air resistance acting vertically! You can say I am in Free Fall at the moment. 3 G. As I fall faster, the air resistance increased even more. My acceleration is decreasing to zero. 4 D. Force of gravity equals the force of air resistance. There is no resultant force acting on me, and I am not accelerating anymore. I am traveling at a constant speed now. 5 H. I open my parachute after a few minutes. The force of air resistance shoots up, but the force of gravity stays the same! I start to decelerate rapidly. 6 F. As I slow down, the force of air resistance decreases on me. My speed is not decreasing so rapidly anymore. 7 C. My force of air resistance now equals the force of gravity. I am falling with a constant speed - so I have reached TERMINAL VELOCITY 8 B. I am still falling at a constant, slow steady speed, enjoying the views. Soon, I will be on the ground!
