Vocabulary for Teaching in Ontario (CANADA)

(1)
Purpose: The purpose of this activity is to help familiarize teacher candidates with the vocabulary used for teaching practice in Ontario. This activity may be used for review or as an assessment for learning activity to guide further instruction and learning.

Instructions: The use of terminology varies across educational contexts. Of the 16 terms listed below, 14 can be categorized into 3 groups according to their use in the context of K-12 education in Ontario. Each of these terms represents either an ethical standard for teachers (Ontario College of Teachers), a learning skill for students (Ontario Ministry of Education), or an achievement chart category (Ontario Ministry of Education). Two terms are important for education in Ontario, but are not in any of these categories. Sort each term into the category of its use in Ontario.
