This is a new database offered by the library. It provides a comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States and includes 1400+ individually indexed tables (with attached spreadsheets) that are searchable and browsable. This resource can be used for academic and career exploration research. Check out section 12 for labor force, employment, and earnings statistics. This streaming video resource (categorized under databases) contains a collection of over 26,000 films on a broad variety of subjects and from leading producers. This website makes it easy to watch, share and facilitate discussions about documentaries, health, sciences, social sciences, education, arts, media and communications, and business. The business subject includes a selection of videos pertaining to career development (244 sources), business skills (382 sources), leadership training (302 sources) and other topics if you’re interested in academic and professional development resources. Clue: Limit your search on the Databases page to "Streaming Media" using the Databases Type search box at the top of the page.

This video tutorials resource offers over a thousand video tutorials and includes Learning Paths taught by industry experts to help with boosting your skills. Learning Path categories include 3D+ Animation, Audio+Music, Business, CAD, Design, Developer, Education+Elearning, IT, Marketing, Photography, Video and Web. Career Development Training and Tutorials are also offered by experts and provide tips on subjects related to career management, job searching and personal branding. One search feature that allows you to personalize a search includes skill level – beginner, intermediate, and advanced. By accessing this resource via Brookens Library and using your net ID and password to sign-in at the prompt, this resources is available at no charge. Go to the Database A-Z index. Click on “L” and select the video tutorials database on this web page. Once you have logged into the database, hover over the “Library” drop down menu (top left corner of web page) and click on the “arrow icon” which loads the A-Z index page. Select “Career Development”

This library database includes a search feature called "Company Dossier" which is helpful for researching industry or company information. Industry information includes the description, top companies, and industry news, reports, and mergers. To learn more about companies in a specific city, state or country, then select the company tab for information about professional contacts (name, title, telephone number and email address), a company's financial overview, competitors, news, or legal cases. This is a great research resource for identifying potential professionals for building your network, preparing for a job search, informational interview or interview. Clue: Go to the Database A-Z index, select the appropriate subject database (business). Select Database, then In the top left corner of the screen select “Menu” and then “Company Dossier”

This resource provides unabridged content of more than 20,000+ online books and 40,000+ streaming videos in a fully searchable database in subjects related to business and IT skills, compliance, productivity and collaboration tools, government, analyst research, certification and well-being. Whether you're trying to answer a question, learn a new skill, or develop professionally this library resource lets you quickly locate learning content aligned to your needs and provides an area to create a customized learning plan. Clue: This resource can be located in the Library’s Database section, or under New Databases, and requires a current UIS NetID and password for access.

This type of resource is easy-to-use and created by UIS librarians to curate knowledge and share information, organize class and subject specific resources, and to create and manage websites. This resource has four categories - course guide, general purpose, subject guide, and topic guide. One of the general purpose resources was specifically created for online students to provide information about creating a library account, remote access to databases, requesting articles and books via MyILL, requesting books from I-Share, and Renewing Book Materials Online.
