Understanding how a river's length is measured:
Rivers are measured by their total length from origin to mouth. Imagine this as the distance your spoon travels from your bowl to your mouth when sipping soup. In the case of rivers, it's the journey of water from its orgin to its mouth.

Key Terms:
Length: The measurement in miles from origin to mouth.
Origin: The point where water gathers and the river begins.
Mouth: The end of the river, where it either joins another river or empties into the ocean.
