A Georgian Film about Love
In the Montpellier Film Festival in the South of France, we often discover unexpected nuggets among the long films. One such film is Dede, Mariam Khatchavani's first film.Snowy, mystical and lucid, Dede has met and surpassed the expectations of its creator; and was the lynchpin of the BSC News programme about the Festival. It suggests that a visit to a certain little-known corner of Georgia would not be inappropriate. It is likely that once there, we will meet women who - like Mariam - are not slow to grasp the nettle and take their destinies firmly by the hand.
