Undermining or tunneling may be present
Drainage from the wound may or may not be present
Full-thickness tissue loss with exposed tendons, muscle or bone
Intact, closed wound
Non-blanchable erythema (reddened area)
Injury penetrates the dermis and extends through adipose layer
Adipose tissue is not exposed
Presents as a deep crater
May be covered with eschar or slough
Healing time 1 to 4 months
Localized area
The epidermis is broken and the dermis may be broken as well
Granulation, slough or eschar may be covering the wound
The wound bed is exposed and often painful
Tissue can be softer or harder than surrounding skin
Tunneling or undermining may be present
My include blisters, burns, abrasions or adhesive tape injuries
Healing time is 3 days to 3 weeks
Healing time 3 months to 2 years
Muscle, tendon and bone is NOT visable
