Forcing them to use drugs or alcohol

Threatening to 'out' them to church members to stop them from attending
Using their mental health diagnosis against them
Abusing (or threatening to abuse) the family pet
Humiliating them in front of others
Constantly sabotaging their employment by making them miss work or making them quit
Gesturing the possibility of violence
Threatening extreme violence if they leave or tell anyone
Restricting all access to household funds
Causing rifts with family and friends to pull them away
Cutting off access to assistive devices (i.e., walkers) to strict mobility
Blaming them for the abuse/making them feel guilty
