In 1891, unusual things started to happen at the house of the Wilkinson family in Georgia, U.S.A. Bells rang, but nobody rang them. Doors closed, but nobody closed them. Furniture moved, but nobody moved it. The family did not believe in ghosts, so at first they were no afraid. But then one night they heard terrible screams and horrible laughter. They could not sleep. Was the house haunted?

Another day, the youngest daughter was in her room, sitting in front of her mirror. She saw a man’s hand. She felt it touch her. It touched her on the shoulder. Horrified, she looked into the mirror, but she could see no reflection of the ghostly hand. She screamed.

Some time later, Mr. Wilkinson went into the yard. There was nobody with him, but footprints appeared beside him, and then mysteriously disappeared.

The Wilkinsons were terrified. They sold their house and moved away.

The family had a pet dog. He barked and barked for no reason. Then, one day, he jumped and jumped up and attacked the air. He fell back to the floor and did not move again. He was dead.

One evening, the family invited some friends to a party. As they sat and ate, they heard a loud scream from upstairs. Blood dripped from the ceiling onto the table. They ran upstairs to investigate, but they could not find anything unusual.
