Label the anatomy of the eye

by Raymond Phinney
1 Cornea 2 Aqueous Humor 3 Iris 4 Pupil 5 Lens 6 Suspensory Ligament 7 Ciliary Body 8 Fovea 9 Blind Sport/Optic disc 10 Optic Nerve 11 Retina 12 Choroid 13 Sclera

Explanation

The cornea does 80% of the focusing of light entering the eye.

Watery fluid in the anterior chamber of the eye.(The vitreous humor - the gooey fluid) is in the posterior chamber.

The colored part of the eye

The spaceinside the iris, through which the light is allowed to enter the eye

The lens does the final 20% of focusing the entering light.

Connects the lens to the ciliary body so it can be stretched or rounded.

Muscle that contracts to let the lens round and relaxes to stretch it flat.

Area in the retina with no other cells in front of the receptors, which are all densely packed cones.

place where all ganglion cell axons leave the eye - no receptors here.

Aggregation of all the ganglion cell axons leaving the eye

Layer at the back of the eye containing the photo-sensitive receptors.

A layer which brings nutrients to the back of the retina (especially the photoreceptors)

Touch outer shell of the eyeball. Made of keratin (like your nails), oriented all directions so it is white.at the front of the eye the fibers all go one direction making it more clear and we call that the cornea.
