And then we saw it . Something and black was through the water . " It's a bear . RUN ! " shouted Jeff . He started to run back wards when the black bear looked up . It looked right at us .

Jeff didn't know that it's wrong to run away from a bear , but of course I knew what to do . I Jeff's arm . " Stand still ! " I said . " Remember the rules : Don't run ! Bears attack people who run . Start to shout and your hands . " Jeff didn't do anything - he was standing as still as a . So we were lucky that I stayed cool and shouted and for both of us !

Then two things happened at the same time . The moon came back out , so we could see much better and the bear its head . Only it wasn't a bear , because bears don't have ! It stared at us . " What is it ? " Jeff asked . His face was all white . I was almost laughing . " Don't worry ! It's a ! " I said . " But when it starts to come nearer , then we need to run away . are only dangerous if you get too close to them . " But nothing happened . The moose some water from the lake and then it just walked back into the trees .

Jeff and I ran back along the trail . We didn't stop until we see the tents again . " Hey , it's a good thing I was with you , isn't it , city kid ? " I said . " But your idea was great and it was an adventure , Jeff ! "

Jeff's face was still white , but he started to smile . " Yeah Ryan , thanks for . But I'm not going to say it was just a moose and I was so scared ! Let's tell everyone it was really a bear " .
