You notice that Tyrese's application for work has many misspelled words. He is seeking a machine operator position. Spelling is not designated as a work requirement on the job description. You believe he will be unable to complete the productivity and maintenance log. You don't call him for interview. During the interview, you ask Tyrese if he has a learning disability Cynthia "passes" the job interview, and except for that wheelchair, you would have offered her a job on the spot. The bank counter is approximately 4 feet high. You're embarassed about your worries, but you tell Cynthia you're sorry that you cannot hire her. Roger had a stroke 18 months ago. Because Serena is worried about customers understanding Roger's speech, she asks him to model two telephone calls with her. Janine has been addicted to heroine. She is clean and attends a methadone clinic once a week for testing and medication. You are aware of this because a rehabilitation agency that helps people look for jobs contacted you about hiring Janine. Your company performs drug testing on all candidates. You send Janine for a drug test before her second interview. Tyrese stops by the company front desk. He asks to see you about his application. You see that he is well kept, is a good communicator and like his drive to check back in. You bring him back immediately for an interview. Cynthia attends an interview with you, for a bank teller position. She uses a wheelchair for mobility. During the interview, you share the job description for the teller job and ask "Are you able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without an accommodation?"
