Explanation

Acadia First Nation is a Mi'kmaq First Nation in southwestern Nova Scotia. Comprising of six reserves with a population of 1,902.

Glooscap First Nation is a Mi'kmaq community near Hantsport Nova Scotia. Founded in 1984 and was named after legendary Mi'kmaq hero, Glooscap.

Bear River First Nation has existed in the Bear River area for over 2000 years. The Indigenous peoples here were known as canoe builders who used their craft for fishing and hunting fish in the Annapolis Basin and Bay of Fundy.

The Annapolis Valley First Nation Mi'kmaq community is located in southwestern Nova Scotia and has a population of approximately 321.

Sipekne'katik First Nation is located near Shubenacadie Nova Scotia. The community was officially founded as a reserve in 1820 named "Indian Brook". In 2013 the community reclaimed its traditional name Sipekne'katik and currently has a population of nearly 3000.

Millbrook First Nation is a Mi'kmaq community located near Truro Nova Scotia. Located here is The Millbrook Cultural and Heritage Centre, which highlights the rich culture and history of the Mi'kmaq people.

Pictou Landing First Nation is a Mi'kmaq community located on the south shore of the Northumberland Straight in Nova Scotia, north of Trenton. Pictou Landing First Nation has over 600 members, with 500 residing on the reserve.

Paqtnkek First Nation is located in northeastern Nova Scotia near Antigonish. Paqtnkek is pronounced "buck-n-keg".

We'koqma'q First Nation is located in Whycocomagh, Nova Scotia, on Cape Breton Island. We'koqma'q means "end of the water" or "beginning of the water".

Wagmatcook First Nation is located in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, near the Bras d'Or Lakes.

Membertou First Nation is located in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and is named after Grand Chief Henri Membertou.

Polotek First Nation is located on Chapel Island in Richmond County, Nova Scotia, near the shores of the Bras d'Or Lakes. The community holds deep cultural and spiritual significance for the Mi'kmaq people, serving as a key gathering place for an annual cultural event called St. Anne's Mission.

Eskasoni First Nation is a Mi'kmaq community in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. It is the largest Mi'kmaq community in the world with a population of over 4000.
