Explanation

At the north pole, air cools and sinks creating High Pressure

Air rises at 60o N, causing low pressure. Just like the Doldrums and the Horse Latitudes, there are no global wind patterns here, because air is moving vertically in the atmosphere, rather than horizontally across the surface. Unlike those, this doesn't have a fancy name.

At 30o latitude, air sinks creating high pressure and an area called the Horse Latitudes. There are no global winds here, because the air is sinking down vertically, rather than moving across horizontally

At the equator, air rises into the atmosphere, creating low pressure. There are no Global Winds here because air is moving vertically in the atmosphere, rather than horizontally across the surface. Because of this, this area is known as the Doldrums.

Winds are named for the direction they come FROM. Winds blow from high pressure to low pressure. The polar easterlies blow from the high pressure at the poles to the low pressure at 60o N, but are curved due to the Coriolis Effect.
