Label the structures found in the eye

by Tiajah Valerio
1 Sclera 2 Cornea 3 Choroid 4 Iris 5 Pupil 6 Lens 7 Ciliary Body 8 Retina 9 Optic nerve

Explanation

The sclera is the outermost, white portion of the eye. It is continuous with the cornea.

The cornea is a structure in the outer layer of the eye that is continuous with the sclera. This structure helps to protect the eye and bends light to hit the lens.

The choroid is the middle layer of the eye and contains vasculature that will provide oxygen and nutrients to the eye.

The iris is the colored portion of the eye that controls the size of the pupil.

The pupil is the hole in the middle of the iris where light will enter into the eye

The lens is a marble like structure in the eye that will focus light on the retina in a process called accommodation (changing the shape of the lens)

The ciliary body contains muscle to control the shape of the lens.

The retina is the innermost layer of the eye that contains photoreceptors (rods to see black and white and cones to see color).

The optic nerve is the nerve that takes visual information from the eye to the occipital lobe of the brain.
