Identify the signs of a scam website.

Explanation

The website may give you a timer to redeem a reward, have a clock showing when the sale will end, or warn you that stock is low. These tactics create a sense of urgency, to push you to act quickly.

Compare the prices of the product on sale. If an offer is too good to be true, it probably is! You can complete an image search to see if the product is being sold on other websites, as the photo may be stolen.

A normal product will have some good reviews, and some negative ones. If the reviews are all positive, that's a sign that it may be dishonest. Don't rely on reviews that are written on the website itself. Search the website or business name and the word 'scam' or 'reviews' to see what customers are saying about this product.

Scammers can copy legitimate websites, by using their logos and images. If you clicked a link on a social media advertisement, or a message that you received, the website may not be legitimate. Search for the website yourself.
