Explanation

Part of the Upper Respiratory System. The nasal cavity warms, filters, and moistens air with the help of cilia and paranasal sinuses.

Commonly called the throat. This portion of the Upper Respiratory System is divided into the nasopharynx, oropharynx, and laryngopharynx.

Commonly called the voice box. This structure is part of the lower respiratory system and contains the vocal cords.

Commonly called the windpipe. The trachea is part of the lower respiratory system and is responsible for carrying air to the bronchi.

The bronchi are part of the lower respiratory system. The bronchi will bring air from the trachea to the bronchioles.

Part of the lower respiratory system. The bronchioles are the smallest airways that carry air from the bronchi to the alveoli.

The air sacs of the lungs covered in surfactant to facilitate the exchange of gases.
