About this activity

By the end of this mapping game, you will be able to identify the five levels of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs based on their brief descriptions and relevant visuals. The Hierarchy of Needs provides a framework for individuals to understand which basic needs must be met in order to reach and fulfill more complex needs such as esteem and self-actualization. As an added bonus, learning this framework cultivates empathy for oneself as well as for others in one’s community and in society at large by creating an awareness of unmet needs.

Instructions:
Review the diagram of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Click on each circle “pin” on the diagram for a written and audible explanation of each need level. You can click on the first pin and then click away before clicking the next pin, or you can click on one of the pins and just keep clicking the green arrow icon to move to the next pin. Relevant visuals and alt text are included in the diagram. Once you are familiar with the material and have reviewed each point/pin, click the green pin button at the bottom of the screen to go into gameplay mode. Once in gameplay, click on each pin again to see the level descriptions and to hear them if needed (there will be a button with a universal “play” symbol to play the audio description). Type out the exact name of each level in the text box provided. To win the game, type out all five level names correctly within the 10-minute time limit. Good luck!
