¿Qué entendemos por Cartografía Social?
Es una herramienta orientada a:
1. Identificar y analizar información social y conocimiento.
2. Comunicarla espacial y visualmente para la toma de decisiones.

Levanta la información de manera espacial, a través del lenguaje visual (puntos, líneas, polígonos y volúmenes) dependiendo el objetivo del proyecto.

Describe y transmite visualmente las características y las visiones de las personas sobre su territorio.

LÍMITES DE LA CARTOGRAFÍA SOCIAL
La realización de un mapa corresponde a la foto del momento en el cual se realizó, por ello no corresponde a la realidad total, que es mucho más compleja y que requiere de otras
herramientas para conocerse.

¿CÓMO SE HACE UNA CARTOGRAFÍA SOCIAL?
Primero se deben definir los objetivos y el alcance del proyecto, identificar a los participantes de la comunidad, y luego recolectar información sobre el territorio y sus miembros a través de métodos como talleres participativos. Después se debe crear el mapa de forma conjunta, usando colores e iconos para representar los diferentes aspectos (problemas, activos, deseos, etc.). Finalmente, se analiza e interpreta colectivamente lo que el mapa representa para la comunidad.

En principio, estos mapas son generados con la información captada por los equipos territoriales de salud (O Equipos de APS).
