Explanation

Morocco is the country where the explorer began her journey. This country shares two coastlines on the north, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. From there, she flew across North Africa to the largest country on the continent, travelling through endless stretches of desert and ancient landscapes.

Algeria was where she landed. Her next stop was a landlocked country completely surrounded by South Africa, where high mountains and cold winds greeted her.

Lesotho is the correct answer. Continuing her adventure, she took a long flight eastward to the biggest island in Africa, famous for its unique wildlife and warm Indian Ocean waters.

Madagascar is the biggest island in Africa. Continuing her adventure, she headed north to the country found directly south of Egypt, where the stretches of the Nile flow through dry plains.

Sudan. She then turned westward to a nation in West Africa whose flag is green and white, a bustling land full of music, energy, and culture.

Nigeria is my name and I am one of the most populated countries on the continent. Her journey next led her to a country crossed by the Equator and blessed with a long coastline, rich with forests and tropical wildlife.

Kenya. She then sailed to the land that holds The Spice Island, known for cloves, cinnamon, and warm breezes drifting from Zanzibar.

Zanzibar is the correct name for the island and nicknamed the Spice Island, and is found in Tanzania. The explorer continued to the country furthest south on the continent, a land of mountains, oceans, and vibrant cities.

Obviously, I am South Africa. From there, she travelled to a place home to Victoria Falls on the Zambia border, where roaring waters thundered beneath rainbow skies.

Zimbabwe is the correct answer. Her path then led her further north to a country where the Mediterranean Sea lies just above it, offering warm coasts and ancient history.

Libya is correct. After that, she moved east to the nation located at the horn of the continent, shaped like a triangle pointing into the sea.

Somalia. She then entered the country home to Nairobi, one of East Africa’s busiest capitals, full of wildlife parks and fast-growing cities.

Kenya. The explorer went onward to a land mostly dry and famous for its pyramids, shaped by deserts and ancient wonders.

Egypt. Her journey did not stop there; she travelled west into the Sahara to the country home to the ancient trading city of Timbuktu, once the center of learning and gold routes.

Mali. Finally, she reached the nation that touches the Mediterranean Sea and partly lies in Asia, a place where two continents meet.

Egypt is correct. And then… The trail went cold. The explorer was last seen leaving this final country and has not been heard from since.
