Explanation

The Adena Hopewell people used the mounds to mark the summer and winter solstice, and the fall and spring equinox. It helped them tell the seasons!

It took many years of observing where to make mound and certain features of it to mark the seasons. Remember it's like a giant calendar, they had to mark specific things!

This family was considered pioneers, they protected the mounds for about 60 years!
