Explicación

El título indica de qué trata el mapa y qué lugar o tema representa. Generalmente se coloca en la parte superior y ayuda a identificar rápidamente la información que se va a observar.

La escala permite saber cuánto mide realmente un lugar, aunque esté representado en tamaño pequeño. Puede mostrarse con números o con una barra que indica kilómetros o metros.

La rosa de los vientos indica la orientación del mapa, señalando el norte, sur, este y oeste. Gracias a ella se puede saber hacia qué dirección se encuentran los lugares.

Las coordenadas geográficas sirven para ubicar con precisión un lugar en el planeta, utilizando paralelos y meridianos. Permiten localizar cualquier punto exacto de la Tierra.

La simbología explica qué significa cada color, punto o figura que aparece en el mapa, como capitales, ríos, fronteras o estados. Se presenta normalmente en una leyenda
