Explanation

Home to 國立自然科學博物館 (National Museum of Natural Science) and 中國醫藥大學 (China Medical University). Features the Chungyo Department Store and Chungshan Hall. Known for educational and cultural facilities.

Contains Taichung City Hall and major commercial streets. Near shopping centers and food districts in the city. Part of the Civic Cultural Corridor with museums nearby. Also contains: 國立臺灣美術館 (National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts); and 草悟道 (Calligraphy Greenway), a long green walking park that connects the museum to 國立自然科學博物館 (National Museum of Natural Science) in the North district.

East of the central station, mixed residential and commercial. Close to Taichung Central Mall shopping area.

Heart of historic Taichung and one of the oldest areas of the city. Contains Taichung Park, a century-old urban green space. Close to the original Taichung Train Station and old markets. The smallest district, under 1km squared.

Primarily residential with local shopping nodes. Houses National Public Library (major urban landmark). Location of TR Daqing Station 大慶車站, a transfer station between the railway and metro.

Extends to scenic Dakeng hills and trails. Highest population in Taichung City. Includes the Taichung Folk Park and cultural sites. Other notable places: 中臺科技大學 (Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology) 馬禮遜美國學校 (Morrison Academy) 臺中市洲際棒球場(Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium)

The second-most populated district. Site of 7th Redevelopment Zone — a modern urban core with malls and business towers. Includes Fengjia University and the famous Fengjia Night Market. Taichung Metropolitan Park sits on the western fringe.

Contains part of Taichung Industrial Park. Known for Lakeside Shopping and Fengle Sculpture Park.

Includes Toubiankeng Bat Cave and ecological landscapes. Fourth most populated district. Taiping District supplies many agricultural products to the Taichung urban area

Features Daliyi Old Street and cultural heritage. Third most populated district.

Home to the 921 Earthquake Museum and scenic memorial gardens. Wufeng is a mainly agricultural town.

Site of the High-Speed Rail (HSR) Taichung Station. Location of the Wuri Brewery (historic).

Contains Fengyuan Lacquer Art Museum and scenic Gonglaoping area.

Famous for Zhongshe Flower Market, horse ranch, and cultural parks.

Rural. Known for Shigang Dam and local Hakka cultural museums.

Includes Dongshi Forest Recreation Farm and Hakka cultural sites. A majority of the residents are Hakka. Its Hakka dialect is very distinct compared to the dialects of other counties.

Famous for flower gardens, mushroom farms, and Taichung Flower Festival areas. also called "Taichung's back garden". Also home to at least two military bases.

Good for outdoor trails like Shitian Hiking Trail.

Known for educational institutions and cultural centers. The only place in Taiwan to grow wheat.

More rural district with local temples and agricultural zones. Known for suncakes.

Coastal district, famous for Dajia Jenn Lann Temple and large Mazu pilgrimage festival.

The Gaomei wetlands are a popular tourist attraction. Taichung International Airport (臺中國際機場) is located in 清水區

The Taichung International Airport sits near the 沙鹿區 border with 清水區.

The Port of Taichung is in Wuqi District.

It lies between the Dajia river and the Da-an river. The district's economy is based on rice.

The eponymous Dadu (also called Wu) River flows nearby.

The term Longjing (龍井) means "Dragon Well"; a well is located in the area. Famous for Art Street and scenic coastal views.

Agricultural area with stone parks and farm landscapes.

A mountain indigenous district. A large mountainous district with Wuling Farm, scenic trails, and hot springs. The largest district in all of Taiwan by area.
