Countries in Northern Europe.

Explanation

Finland, locally known as Suomi, is Estland's older and closest brother in Northern Europe. Finland is also known as the land of a thousand lakes, cause of the vast amount of the reservoirs in the country, with the total number being around 200,000

Estland, archaically known as Estonia and locally as Eesti, is Finland's little brother in Northern Europe. The country has an extensive amount of bogs and swamps, a lot of forests, lakes, and around 2000 islands. The country was also home to the famous vikings of Scandinavian history.

Sweden, locally known as Sverige (svahrijah), is formerly an empire that, in more recent history, has stayed neutral and peaceful. Their neutrality traces back 300 years, before that having Finland, Estonia, parts of Russia, Germany and Norway as their territory. Now, after joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), the country ultimately had to choose a side to be on.

Denmark, locally known as Danmark, is home to the beloved world famous LEGO toys, but also tales by H.C. Andersen and the world's oldest amusement park, Dyrehavsbakken. The massive pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, famous for the Ozempic drug, is also from here.

Norway, locally known as Norge (nor-ye), is the northernmost country in Europe, as their Svalbard and Jan Mayen territories extend long past the arctic circle. They are the only Scandinavian country that's not in the EU, while also being the richest in the region. The country is very mountainous, while forests only take up a small percentage of territory.

Iceland, locally known as Ísland, is the country with the least people in the region, only around 400,000. They're also the furthest from mainland Europe, being closer to Greenland than anywhere else. It is one of the only countries in Europe without a McDonald's restaurant. They also have no military.

Latvia, locally known as Latvija, is Lithuania's twin yet subtly different brother. They speak a Baltic language, which has its roots mostly from Germanic and Slavic languages. Latvia is mainly a Lutheran protestant country, while also having a national orthodox church.

Lithuania, locally known as Lietuva, is Latvia's twin yet subtly different brother. They speak a Baltic language, which has its roots mostly from Germanic and Slavic languages. Lithuanian has an amount of oddly similar words to Sanskrit, a historic language from India. Lithuanians are mostly Catholic, contrary to Latvians, and used to be part of an empire with Poland, the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth.
