Explicación

Su cumbre más alta, actualmente, es el Mont Blanc (casi 5.000 metros de altitud sobre el nivel del mar).

Los romanos iniciaron la conquista de esta isla hacia el 259 a.C. Entonces estaba dominada por los cartagineses.

Los romanos conquistaron esta isla en el 238 a.C., aprovechando una rebelión cartaginesa. Los romanos organizaron Córcega y Cerdeña como la primera provincia romana en el 227 a.C.

Los romanos terminaron de conquistar esta isla en el 212 a.C., cuando tomaron Siracusa, una ciudad aliada de Cartago. En esta ciudad vivía Arquímedes, que murió durante la batalla, a pesar de que los generales romanos habían ordenado que se respetara su vida.

Su pico más alto es Corno Grande, con casi 3.000 metros de altura. Alberga el glaciar más meridional de Europa (Gran Sasso d'Italia).

Recorrida por el río Tíber, según la leyenda, fue fundada por Rómulo y Remo un 21 de abril del 753 a.C. ¡Bienvenido/a a la Ciudad Eterna!
