Explicación

Alargado transversalmente y más grueso anterior que posteriormente; presenta en su cara superior dos ganchos de cuerpo vertebral o apófisis unciformes.

Nacen de la parte posterior de las caras laterales del cuerpo vertebral. Su borde superior está tan profundamente escotado como el inferior.

Terminan en carillas articulares planas y cortadas en bisel; las carillas superiores se orientan superior y posteriormente y las inferiores inferior y anteriormente.

Cuadriláteras y más anchas que altas.

Presenta un vértice bitubercular y una cara o borde inferior ex- cavado por un canal anteroposterior.

Se implantan por medio de dos raíces que circunscriben, con el pedículo, el agujero transverso; su cara superior está excavada en canal y su vértice es bifurcado o bitubercular.
