Explanation

Discovered in 1930, this became the most important single pool and leading producing field in Mexico by roughly 1935. It was discovered using modern seismic and torsion-balance techniques, making it the first major geophysical discovery in the country.

The first major discovery was the San Diego de la Mar No. 1 well in 1908. The region reached its peak production in 1921, producing close to 500,000 barrels per day.

Fields on the flanks of salt domes in the Tonala River area were significant producers in the mid-1930s. Key fields included: -Filisola -Tonala-El Burro -El Plan -Cuichapa
