Explicação

Na boca, os alimentos sofrem transformações físicas (mastigação) e transformações químicas, formando o bolo alimentar.

No esófago, o bolo alimentar desloca-se devido aos movimentos peristálticos, prosseguindo até ao estômago.

No estômago, a massa alimentar é submetida á ação dos movimentos peristálticos. Simultaneamente, as enzimas pepsina e lípase vão atuar.

A bílis, produzida pelo fígado e armazenada na vesícula biliar, tem a capacidade de emulsionar os lípidos.

A sua contração liberta a bílis para a porção inicial do intestino delgado.

Ao sair do estômago, o quimo entra no duodeno, que é a parte inicial do intestino delgado. Nesta região, o quimo entra em contacto com o suco pancreático e com o suco intestinal.

Na parede do intestino grosso ocorre a absorção de água e de minerais. Os movimentos peristálticos deslocam lentamente as fezes até ao reto, onde são expulsas pelo ânus através da defecação.
