Explicación

Las apófisis articulares superiores están aplanadas transversalmente. Su cara medial está ocupada por una superficie articular en forma de canal vertical, cuya concavidad se halla orientada medial y un poco posteriormente

Homologa las apófisis transversas de las vértebras torácicas; sin embargo, para vallois las apófisis accesorias, así como las apófisis mamilares, con simples eminencias de inserción de algunos tendones de los músculos erectores de la columna,

Las apófisis costales se implantan en la unión del pedículo y de la apófisis articular superior. Son largas y estrechas, y terminan en un extremo afilado. Estas apófisis representan las costillas lumbares.

Son más altas que anchas

Gruesos y se implantan en los tres quintos superiores o en la mitad superior del ángulo formado por la unión de las caras posterior y lateral del cuerpo vertebral
