You Win, read this and find the important word. The history of this Southern African nation is defined by a dramatic change of identity. In the Middle Ages, the region flourished around the city of Great Zimbabwe, a massive stone fortress built by the Shona people. Everything changed at the end of the 19th century. An ambitious British businessman, Cecil Rhodes, seized the land for the British Crown. In his honor, the territory was named RHODESIA. For nearly a century, this colonial name symbolized British rule and the struggle between settlers and liberation movements. It was not until 1980, after a long fight for independence, that the country officially rejected this name to reclaim its ancestral heritage. The land of Rhodes disappeared from the maps to become the Republic of Zimbabwe.
