Explicación

Era el gran punto de entrada de las especias hacia el Mediterráneo, donde se redistribuían a Europa.

Era conocida como “la tierra de las especias” porque allí se encontraba la pimienta, la más valiosa en Europa durante siglos.

Sus islas eran llamadas “las islas de las especias” porque eran el único lugar del mundo donde crecían el clavo y la nuez moscada

Fue una de las ciudades más ricas de Europa gracias al comercio de especias que llegaban desde Oriente.

Desde aquí salió la expedición de Magallanes y Elcano que consiguió dar la primera vuelta al mundo buscando especias.
