Our quiet neighborhood has turned into a theme park. Rent is sky-high because every apartment is now a short-term holiday rental, and the local bakeries are being replaced by souvenir shops selling plastic junk. We are losing our soul." Mark (Economist): "I understand the frustration, Elena, but we have to look at the numbers. Tourism provides over 15% of our city’s GDP and thousands of jobs. Without those 'selfie-stick' tourists, half the restaurants in this town would close tomorrow. The tax revenue they bring in pays for our public transport and the restoration of those very historic buildings you love. You can’t just turn off the tap." Sarah (Eco-Traveler): "It’s not just about money or noise, though. Look at the environmental footprint. The sheer volume of waste and the carbon emissions from all these low-cost flights are unsustainable. We shouldn't necessarily 'turn off the tap,' but we need to pivot toward 'quality over quantity.' Maybe we should limit the number of visitors or increase entry fees to ensure that those who come truly respect the destination." Elena (local resident): "Higher fees? That just means only rich people get to travel! That doesn't solve the fact that my grandmother can't afford her apartment anymore because of 'tourist-led' inflation. We need strict caps on rentals and a return to being a living city, not a museum." Mark (Economist): "Caps and bans are a slippery slope. If you make it too difficult for people to visit, they’ll just take their money to a different city, and our economy will crash.
