Explicació

Es du a terme l'intercanvi de gasos: la sang dona O2 als teixits, mentre que recull el CO2 generat pel metabolisme de les cèl·lules del cos.

En aquest òrgan es du a terme l'intercanvi de gasos: l'oxigen (O2) que prové de fora entra als eritròcits. Alhora, els eritròcits es desprenen del CO2 del cos, i aquest ja pot sortir fora per la boca
