When this enters the blood, certain chemical reactions take place that help the transport of it from tissues to the lungs, where it can be expelled from the body.

Air is first passed from the environment through this structure. This has three narrow mucosa-covered plates of bone on the lateral wall called conchae.

The air from the fourth structure then passes through this structure. Composed of a fibroelastic membrane and smooth muscle and usually do not contain cartilage.

A dome-shaped musculofibrous sheet that sits underneath the lungs, dividing the thorax from the abdomen.

The air passes from the third structure to all parts of this structure. This can be split into three sections primary, lobar, and segmental.

The air goes from the second structure to this structure. It begins at the level of C6 below the cricoid cartilage of the larynx. It descends through the thorax, where it divides at the level of T4 into two principle bronchi.

The air from the the first structure to this structure. A muscular tube lined with mucous membrane, which joins the nasal and oral cavities to the esophagus and larynx.

The air passes from the fifth structure to this structure. These are tiny, thin-walled air sacs with a rich blood supply. Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide are exchanged here.
