Explanation

CHAPLAIN: You want to see me General? PATTON: Oh yeah, chaplain. I'm sick and tired of the Third Army having to fight the Germans, the Supreme Command, no gasoline, and now this ungodly weather. I want a prayer. A weather prayer. CHAPLAIN: A weather prayer, sir? PATTON: Yes, let's see if you can't get God working with us in this thing. CHAPLAIN: It's going to take a pretty thick rug for that kind of praying. PATTON: I don't care if it takes a flying carpet. CHAPLAIN: Well, I don't know how this is going to be received, General, but praying for good weather so we can kill our fellow man? PATTON: I can assure you sir because of my intimate relations with the Almighty, if you write a good prayer, we will have good weather. I expect that prayer within the hour.

Why is it we can't be / The way we used to be / Problems we would work it out / Whenever there was any doubt / You use to trust in me / But now you're leaving me to suffer / Oh, oh, oh yeah a-yeah / If you give love a chance / I'll do the best I can / We can work it out in time / And mend the pieces of our lives / Please believe in me / Every day is looking darker / Think I'm gonna run into bad weather / Skies are gray / Cause our love just ain't together / Think I'm gonna run into bad weather / Cause our love just ain't together

The power companies were actually building their defenses against this fast approaching storm months and even years ago. Each winter they carefully measure the depth of the snow on the mountains like this. They keep accurate records of humidity and rainfall. They look into the future with the long-range weather forecast. Will it be a dry season or a rainy one?

Watching lightning kiss the sky / Blacks and blues embrace the light / Here it comes, just for us / I'm not afraid / It's raining, it's pouring / And you are restoring my soul / Oh, oh, oh / And as each drop is pounding / My sorrows are drowning in hope / Oh, oh, oh

[Read the line "My God, it's sunny outside!" as a villain].

Suuper windy! I guess it is Monday. Trying out new locations. I hope that you can hear me over the wind. It's like really breezy, so I hope that's not distracting. Clearly I'm just best at picking locations to film because it's so windy that... That's all you hear. So that's something that's happening.

It's snowing, come and see how the snowflakes fall / It's snowing, Merry Christmas to one and all. / We love that time in December / When we remember that stable in Bethlehem / and we wish you a Merry Christmas / Yes, we wish you a Merry Christmas.

People often ask me, you know, 'Can I get a tan if it's cloudy outside?' And the answer is yes. The UV rays can definitely penetrate the clouds. Sometimes you get that security feeling that you're going to be okay because it's cloudy outside, and then people don't use sunblock. So you have to remember: it doesn't matter if it's cloudy, or if it's sunny, always use outside good SPF high sunblock, or sunscreen, and when you're doing anything outside.

We all love the sunshine, I mean, is there anything better than waking up to see nothing but blue skies and not a cloud in them? I think not. But as a photographer or videographer, that kind of weather can often be your worst nightmare. The reality is that overcast skies are really your best friend as a photographer or videographer. The reason why is because overcast skies kind of help to soften the look of everything. Overcast skies, those grey skies, help to kind of dull things a little bit. If you're trying to shoot photos or videos outside and there's nothing but sunshine, you see a lot of glare. You have to deal with reflections, glare and glow.

Camping in the rain is no fun, but if you spend any amount of time outdoors in the UK, wet weather is unavoidable. The good news is that there're some quick and easy steps that can be taken to help you enjoy, rather than endure a wet night on the campus. The first step is to make sure that your gear doesn't get wet during the day. An easy and affordable way to do this is to use a waterproof rucksack liner with a roll-top closure.

I love you / And everything you do / I need you / Don't ever say we're through / I love you / The sun is shining / The world is smiling / Baby I love you

The United Nations has called climate change the defining issue of our time. A U.N. panel estimated the planet's temperature will likely rise by at least 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit between 2030 and 2052. That could lead to more extreme weather and harsher conditions.

Hello, my name is Professor Daisy. Today I'm going to tell you all about temperate climate. There are lots of different types of climates in the world, like tropical, the hottest climate in the world. Phew, I'm so hot! Or tundra, that is the coldest climate in the world, where penguins like to live. I wish I was somewhere warmer! Or temperate climate, that's nicely in the middle. It's my best climate ever because it's not too hot in temperate climate, and it's not too cold in temperate climate. Only 7% of the land in the world is temperate climate, but 55% of people live in temperate climates.

KATERINA: Everyone is constantly talking about the weather in the UK. One minute we're hotter than some parts of Europe and the next it's chilly and cold. But why is our weather so changeable? With me now, on ITV News' rooftop is ITV News' Martin Stew. MARTIN: Like that. KATERINA: So Martin, explain to us... Why? MARTIN: It's... we're in a really different place in the world. So two things really: first of all, you imagine, places like the North Pole, quite easy to predict the weather. It's always cold. The Equator, very easy, because it's always hot. And we're sort of slap-bang in the middle of the two. So you've got cold air battling with hot air. And where they meet, that thing is going to change of the weather. The other thing is we're an island, and because the way the Earth spins, we get most of our weather from the west and that, of course, comes all the way over the Atlantic, and as the air comes over the sea, it picks up moisture and what does moisture mean? Cloud and rain. So with all that thrown in the mix, it makes it very tricky.

We're giving reports of heavy flooding at Tower Hill and most of the main roads into the city.

Seasonal snow can cover up to a third of the Earth's landmass. More than half of this is habitable land, where people rely on their cars as their main mode of transport. So with these conditions only been available almost exclusively to the northern hemisphere and for a limited time, we've set off to find out how car manufacturers can now test the safety of their vehicles in such extreme conditions all year round.

Arrival of the monsoon marks the end of the fishing season here. It's too dangerous to go out, and it's also prohibited because the monsoon season is when the fish breed and the nets destroy the fish's habitat. For these fishermen monsoon marks the beginning of the hungry time.
