The difference between wash and watch is...

Explicación

If you have a regular verb, you add -ed to the infinitive=play - played. But if you have a verb that ends in -e, you only add -d. Dance - danced.

Spanish is a phonetic language, all letters are pronounced. English is not.

The last letter/sound in the verb in infinitive tells us the -ed pronunciation of that verb.

If a verb in infinitive (root verb) ends in T or D, the -ed pronunciation is /Id/.
