She was also known as 'The Lady with the _____'.

Explanation

She was born in Florence (Italy) on 12th May 1820. It is in her honour that every year International Nurses Day takes place on May 12.

She left England to study at the Kaiserswerth Hospital in Düsseldorf, Germany.

During the Crimean War, more soldiers were dying from infections than from wounds on the battlefield due to poor sanitation in hospitals.

Florence established the Nightingale Training School for Nurses at St Thomas’ Hospital in London.

As you could see on the video and the cover of The Daily Mirror, Florence was known as 'The Lady with the Lamp'. She gained this nickname during her work at Scutari as she would walk among the beds, checking the wounded men holding a light in her hand at night. Thank you for completing this video quiz and I hope you enjoyed learning about this revolutionary nurse and humanitarian.
