Un triángulo tiene lados y ángulos . La suma de los 3 de un triángulo , ya sea regular o irregular , es siempre grados .

Los triángulos se pueden clasificar :

a ) Por sus lados :

Equilátero : 3 iguales . Es un triángulo regular porque tiene todos sus lados y ángulos .
: 2 lados iguales .
Escaleno : los 3 lados .

b ) Por sus ángulos :

Rectángulo : 1 ángulo y 2 ángulos agudos .
Acutángulo : 3 lados .
: 1 ángulo obtuso y 2 agudos .

En un triángulo rectángulo se llaman catetos los 2 lados que forman el ángulo recto , mientras que el tercer lado se denomina hipotenusa .
Según el Teorema de , en todo triángulo se cumple la siguiente propiedad : la hipotenusa al es igual a la suma de los al cuadrado .
