Las TAG QUESTIONS, son aquellas pequeñas preguntas en inglés que agregas a una afirmación o negación, cuando necesitas confirmar la veracidad de cierta información o si quieres dar a conocer tu opinión. En español, sería como preguntar ¿Verdad? o ¿Cierto? al final de un enunciado de pregunta.

Algunos ejemplos son:

Enunciado                     Tag Question           Respuesta

You're Luis,                       aren't you?           Yes, I am / No, I'm not.

She speaks Spanish,       doesn't she?       Yes, she does / No, she doesn't.

They didn't know,              did they?           Yes, they did / No, they didn't.

It's a beautiful day,            isn't it?           Yes, it is / No, it isn't.

1. Las TAG QUESTIONS siempre emplean verbos auxiliares.  

He lives in Korea, doesn't he? *

*Does: verbo auxiliar para verbos diferentes a TO BE, correspondiente a las terceras personas del singular HE, SHE, IT.

Your parents are from Italy, aren't they?*

* Are: Forma del verbo TO BE que se conjuga para los pronombres YOU, WE, THEY.

2. Cuando el enunciado de la pregunta es de caracter afirmativo, usamos TAG QUESTIONS en negativo.

Enunciado (afirmativo)          Tag question (negativa)
That movie was great,                   wasn't it?

3. Cuando el enunciado de la pregunta es de caracter negativo, usamos TAG QUESTIONS en afirmativo.
