isiting Iceland

Are you wondering where to go on your next vacation , but haven't decided yet ? If you like nature and adventure , then Iceland is a great destination . There are so many things to see there like visiting the lonely deserts , the smoking volcanoes and hot springs , the landscapes , massive glaciers , and of course the world famous Northern Lights . Below , there are a few of the most memorable places to see in this strange island of water and fire .

? The Blue Lagoon : This is one of Iceland's most famous destinations . Even though many tourists go there , it is still worth the trip . The milky blue water is a mix of 70% sea water and 30% fresh water and the temperature is a perfect 38°C . After swimming in the Blue Lagoon , your skin will feel really soft and smooth . The spa has many other like restaurants , bars , saunas , and it even has a hot waterfall which you can stand under , naturally easing the pain of sore muscles and massaging your body .

? Food : Because of the long cold winters , the Icelanders are used to eating a lot of meat and fish , and not so many vegetables . Seafood here is delicious and really fresh . If you want to try something different , then you should ask for Hákarl ? Greenland shark . This is one of Iceland's traditional foods and it has a strong flavor . They put the shark in the ground for six months and then they dry it for six more months . It has both white and dark meat , and some people do not like its taste . They eat many other types of fresh fish , mutton , and sometimes reindeer . Iceland has a lot of geothermal energy which they use to heat their homes , but also to bake their bread and even for boiling eggs !

? The Aurora Borealis : The Northern Lights are one of the most popular things to see in Iceland . However , it is not always easy to see them . The best time to go is between September and April when there is almost complete darkness and the skies are clear . The northern lights are usually active for two or three nights and then darker for four to five nights , so it's a good idea to stay a week in order to have a better chance to see the lights . Bubble hotels are becoming more popular these days . This 'hotel room' is made from a plastic bubble which is and allows you to gaze at the stars and the northern lights .

? The Golden Circle : There are three amazing things to visit here : Þingvellir National Park , the Geysir Geothermal Area , and Gullfoss waterfall . You can snorkel or dive in Þingvellir park , swim in the enormous lake , or walk around the many volcanoes in the area . In 930 AD , the park was the site of Iceland's first and it has been named a UNESCO site since 2004 . In the Geysir Area , you can watch the 20 to 30 meter geyser erupting every ten minutes . The third stop in the Golden Circle is Gullfoss Waterfall which is 32 meters in height . You can see many rainbows in this beautiful place or go rafting down the powerful glacial river if you are feeling .
