If a child informs you that they are being abused you must respond . It is important that you the child and what they are telling you . You should allow the child to explain in their words and should not use questions . You can carefully use questions such as , who , and where in order to clarify what you are being told but put words in the child's mouth .
You must also discreetly record what the child is saying , using their language . For example , if the child uses the term Papa , instead of Dad , then you use the word when quoting the child .
