In the past people made books . Such books are called handmade books . People used and a pen called a quill which they made from a . People wrote on a material which they made from animal . To draw pictures and make them they also used a lot of gold and . It was a hard work and it took to make one book !

But a technology called changed how people made books . A man , called Johannes Gutenberg , a printing machine . He also made , put ink on them and put them into his machine which pressed the ink paper . His invention the cost of books because it helped to make books quicker . It's an interesting fact but in the past only people had books . With the invention of the printing machine , more people were to buy books and so more people learned ! This is how printed books appeared .

the invention of audio technology , people listen to books . People bought them on cassettes and on CDs in shops and listened to them through speakers or . Now , thanks to digital technology , we can read books on an e - reader , a tablet or even a smartphone . We don't need to go for books because we can download them the Internet or buy them the Internet . With digital technology , it's quicker to write a book , too . you need is a mouse , a keyboard and a computer .
