University exams , a new job , moving house ? it all makes us ! We all know what it feels like and we don't like it , but we are not alone . For a long time , scientists and psychologists believed that stress was a very dangerous thing , and that the only right thing to do was to fight it . They were telling us that stress made us sick and increased the risk of everything from the common cold to heart problems . This way , stress became our worst enemy .

However , psychologists have about stress now . One of them , Kelly McGonigal , is now trying to help people understand that turning stress into our friend can change how it makes us feel . Why does she think so ? She says that the latest study shows that only people who both from a lot of stress and believe that this level of stress is for them have serious health problems . " People who had a lot of stress , but did not see stress as harmful had the lowest risk of dying , " she said . It is a great discovery ! It seems that when you change your mind about stress , you can change your body's to it . Scientists also think that how long we live depends on how we think about stress too . People who saw stress as helpful lived longer than average . So , the best idea would be to believe that stress is your friend and this will make your body react better to it and be healthier too .

Maybe you think that it is easy to say but hard to do . Is there something simple you could do to your body's response to stress ? Kelly McGonigal says that when you feel stressed , your body produces a stress hormone . This hormone wants you to speak to other people about your problems . Then , it makes you feel better and happier . When you have a problem , go and have a coffee with your best friend or talk to your partner . Don't be alone with this problem and your body will be happier .

So what to do in stressful situations ? All in all , don't be afraid of stress , make it your good friend , and talk to family and friends about your big and small problems .
