Det første skridt i en fødekæde er et biom . Dvs . et sted hvor planter og dyr kan leve . Planter og dyr bliver også kaldet . Det næste skridt i en fødekæde er " Producenter " ( Producers ) , som er organismer , der kan producere deres egen energi fra solen gennem . Producenter er derfor med andre ord . Forbrugere ( ) er det næste skridt i fødekæden , som er organismer , der IKKE kan deres egen mad , og de skal derfor spise for at få . Planteædere anses for at være forbrugere ( primary consumers ) , fordi de kun spiser ( producers ) . Kødædere er organismer , der kun spiser forbrugere ( consumers ) , og ominvores spiser både planter og . Til sidst har vi de organismer som kaldes ( decomposers ) , der får deres energi ved at nedbryde organismer , animalsk og laver næringsstoffer i . Og sådan fungerer livets kredsløbet - ligesom de siger i filmen " Løvernes konge " . Når vi dør , bliver vores kroppe til . Den græs spiser . Men før kroppene bliver til græs , skal nedbryderene som f . eks . , nedbryde de døde dyr , så planterne kan få næringsstofferne .
