المواد العضويةعبارة عن مجموعةٍ متنوعةٍ من بقايا النباتات والحيوانات، والكائنات الدقيقة الحية والميتة،

التربة الرملية عبارة عن رواسب دقيقة الحجم، والمسافات بين الرواسب متناهية الصغر مما يجعلها كثيفة وضعيفة التهوية، ولها قدرة مرتفعة على الاحتفاظ بالماء،

التربة الطميية مزيج من الطين والرمل والطمي دقيق الحجم ، ولكن أكبر قليلاً من حبيبات التربة الطينية، معتدلة التهوية ولها قدرة عالية على الاحتفاظ بالماء
