You are probably one of those people that goes to work and earns a salary doing 40 to 50 hours a week . Not too much time for hobbies or family between and the dull commute , right ? Now , imagine if you could study , work part - time , start a business , volunteer , or pursue any of your lifelong dreams and still earn enough money to survive . Does that sound like something you'd like to try ?

Over in Finland , the government is experimenting with the idea of a basic income . 2 , 000 randomly selected unemployed people are involved in the trial and one of the aims of the experiment is to see whether receiving a basic income can reduce poverty .
