Podemos encontrar como materiales los metales y sus aleaciones , como también sustancias que están constituidas por uno o más elementos ; por ejemplo : hierro cobre , aluminio , níquel y titanio . Ahora bien , podemos subdividir a los materiales metálicos en dos grupos importantes : los ferrosos y los no ferrosos . Ferrosos : a este grupo pertenece el hierro y sus derivados : el acero y la fundición . No ferroso : este grupo esta formado por los demás metales y sus aleaciones . A su vez , en función del peso , los metales se pueden subdividir en dos grupos : metales y metales . Materia . Es importante aclarar que estos en estado natural , se encuentran puros , ya que se hallan combinados con el oxígeno , o con otros no metales , en especial del azufre , cloro y carbono . Los metales que se encuentran puros en la naturaleza , llamados metales nativos son : , , , y . El hombre para poder usar los metales , ha tenido que aprender como extraerlos de la naturaleza , pues en estado natural los metales están mezclados con otros minerales .
