1.Dogajalni čas v obeh literarnih delih poteka zaporedno, vendar so pri Jančarju retrospektive težko ločljive od sprotnega dogajanja.

2.Pri Kocbeku so ločnice med časovnimi obdobji jasno prepoznavne, s čimer je sprotno razumevanje vsebine olajšano, v romanu pa se čas pogosto prepleta z notranjimi doživljanji likov.

3.Leto 1944 ni pomembno za dogajanje v romanu In ljubezen tudi, saj so vsi glavni dogodki postavljeni v leto 1940.

4.V novelah Strah in pogum čas poteka popolnoma ciklično, podobno kot v romanu In ljubezen tudi.

5.Dogajalni čas je v novelah manj pomemben, saj gre za izrazito idejna vprašanja borcev, kako se odločiti in kako ravnati v različnih situacijah.
