Η σημαία της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας καθιερώθηκε το 1974.

Η σημαία της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας καθιερώθηκε το 1960.

Το κόκκινο και το μπλε ήταν "απαγορευμένα" χρώματα για τη σημαία της Κύπρου.

Στη σημαία φαίνονται δύο πράσινα κλαδιά δάφνης.

Τα κλαδιά ελιάς που ενώνονται συμβολίζουν την ειρήνη και την ενότητα ανάμεσα στους Ελληνοκυπρίους και Τουρκοκυπρίους.

Το κίτρινο χρώμα της Κύπρου πάνω στη σημαία συμβολίζει τις όμορφες αμμουδιές του νησιού.

Το κίτρινο χρώμα της Κύπρου πάνω στη σημαία θυμίζει τον Χαλκό από τον οποίο πήρε και όνομά της η Κύπρος. (cuprum=χαλκός).
