Whether you grew up in the digital age or remember the Dansette record player you were given one Christmas long , long ago , it seems that the vinyl record still has many things to offer ?

Music fans are falling back in love with the idea of owning a record player . According to figures recently by the BPI , the music industry's trade body , sales in the first half of 2017 reached £37 . 3 million . Moreover , record players featured heavily on the lists for Christmas presents again this year . If you thought that the days of Long Play record were over , then think again . This year , sales are likely to reach their highest level since the late 1980s , when CDs started to take over the music industry .

For those of you that are too young to remember vinyl , here is a brief history . Once upon a time , before everyone on the planet owned a smartphone and could download music from the internet , you had to go to a music store , where , since the 1990s , most people used to buy compact discs which required a compact disc player to play and hear the music .
